tired

i am tired. physically and emotionally tired. after almost 16 months i still am getting up at night to tend to one kid or another (never at the same time). noah has resorted to being up almost every 2 hours... yes i know teething could be the culprit. but it doesn't make it any less tiring. i hate getting up at night.. am beginning to resent it in fact. its taking a toll on me in almost every way including my marriage. some how night time parenting is the worst for dave and i. we seem to miss the mark in communicating every time. not sure how much more we can take. any suggestions.. (please remember there is two to take into consideration so not all tried methods will apply)

I'm so sorry for you. I know sleep deprivation is horrible. For teething we do Ibuprofen before bedtime with Oral Gel and so far it seems to work. It is so hard when they share a room and one wakes up...then they wake the other. Ugh. Have you tried seperating them for a few days until the teether calms down? Sometimes we have to resort to this trick. Are they getting good naps? When mine get good naps they sleep much better...if they have a bad nap day it is harder to get them to do down at night. Luckily mine both sleep through the night 6:30 to 6:30 since month 6. Do you use binkies? We got rid of them early on as they were hindering the sleep rather than helping it. Do you use loveys? My babies LOVE their little animals and cuddle them all night long...they also know it is naptime and bedtime because I give them their loveys while I rock them/sing to them as they cuddle them. Ummm...what else helps us....do you use white noise? For naps I put the radio on static to drown out the outside noises.
Hope that helps a bit. Try to stay sane and hopefully this will pass soon.

Talking about sleep...I had a lovely dream about you a few weeks ago. I can't remember what it was about exactly, but you were you bubbly joyful self and we were talking and it was so lovely. I woke up really missing you and feeling a longing to hang out with you once again. Love you friend!!!! Will be praying for some sleep for you guys!

Have you tried Hyland's Teething Gel? That was the ONLY stuff that worked for my youngest ds. You can get it at the health food store. Totally worth it. I always found that my guy got an upset stomach when he teethed, especially when I used ora-gel.

Good luck Heather, I'll be praying :)

Oh Heather, sleep deprevation is the worst! I can so relate! My youngest didn't sleep through until right before my youngest was born. And then I was up with my youngest cuz' he had stomach problems, and no dr. could figure it out. I was at the end of my rope. Then one day in church the message was about asking God for helping and being prayed over. So my pastor and his wife come and pray over him,and his room. And within a few days his stomach problems were was gone. We then let him cry it out and he's been sleeping through ever since. I don't know if you've let your boys cry it out. I NEVER would have let me oldest cry it out but it's so worth it!
Praying for you!

I was hoping someone would have the magic answer here, oh well =) So sorry for your rough nights. We've only been doing it for 12 months but it is definitely wearing on the grown ups in our house. If you figure something out, let me know! Thinking of you.
