decorating help

okay i am opening the floor for you to give me the best idea you have.. we are about to embark on a "small" project. at the top of the stairs we have a large landing.. i think it used to be a room. we are going to build a wall and have that be baby J's room.

we decided to put in french doors to keep it light and open. i will put up curtains on the inside for privacy. the doors are above.. they come all primed and ready for paint, they do have glass but the beauty of these ones is that they are covered to keep painting simple. the opening right now is 6ft by 8 ft.
so my question is... what color do i paint the doors?? do i paint them the same color that i will paint the hallway or the room or do i pick a darker more contrasting color.
i was thinking somewhere along the grey/creamy white color palette for the room as well as the hallway. i was thinking of keeping them the same color... so here is my plea for help. please help me pick paint for my doors...

I am with you on keeping the color the same and creamy white sounds refreshing. Just my two cents :)

i would so totally pick a darker contrasting color! like a mocha/chocolate/espresso kinda color... mmmm now i'm hungry...

(it's gonna be gorgeous when you're done by the way, can't wait to see it when it's finished!)

I would go the same color as your trim.. I love the dark chocolate color of the window frames.

What an exciting project! Nursery planning is some of the most fun decorating.
All the other doors upstairs are probably original stained wood, right? (I don't rememeber). If that is the case, then matching the french doors to all the other upper storey doors isn't possible. I vote for a cream/gray hallway and the french doors painted the same colour as the trim. I'm guessing there will be new trim installed around the french doors and I would probably paint it white.
This kind of decorating question is tough because you're working with the gorgeous original wood doors and trim which you can't match unless you want to spend a fortune.
Can't wait to see the before/after!

For my house... I'm a white girl... but for you... I could totally see you making them a fun color... or what about trim color on the side everyone sees, but a fun color on the inside?

I vote for a fun color. Maybe the same color that you'll paint the room, as kinda of a sneak peak to what the room will look like. Plus I'm a color girl so thats why I'd say color. Good luck. Can't wait to see the finished project.
