I'm not to sure i was wondering the same thing, you asked the question right out of my mouth. if you know fill me in on it please.
it just makes it become part of your google account.. so like when you sign into google, you can go to your mail or your blog... like that kind of thing.. and then too more people come across your blog when you go with google because when people do a search it comes up higher... i have had a lot more random visiters since i switched over. So its not needed but doesnt hurt! Hope that helps :)

I don't really know why, but I did it - and thankfully nothing changed on my blog at all. It was easy, and pretty quick.
yeah, i changed and didn't notice a whole lot more...... maybe a little more user friendly? who knows.... i'm so computer illiterate!!
